My husband and seperated last year the decree absoloute is not done yet, we went to court over access and we agreed on wednesday teatimes and overnight access once a week which is what my ex wanted. Now because i am seeing someone he doesn't like he wants to go for joint custody because he says he can provide her with a loving family environment.
I am the one who has provided for our daughter who is 5 for the last 18 months i'm the one who sits and helps her with her homework i'm the one who attends school activities and deals with her in the night if she's ill and i just feel devastated that he can do this

Dont be giving up. Just because your husband wants joint custody, it doesnt mean you have to agree with it. According to the law, both parents can apply for sole custody, with the other having visitation rights. The likelihood is the mother is the one who is normally granted sole custody, unless he can prove you care a unfit mother, drugs, alcohol and needs to provide documentatin evidence of this.

So, my advice is go for sole custody, he will still see her but you get the overall responsibility of education and well being.
