I purchased some farmland 4 years ago in December in Saskatchewan. The next spring I was surprised to find 15 grave covers removed from the local cemetary and thrown on top of the ground in the deserted farm yard. The cemetery committee says they had permission from the previous land owner to put them there and bury them there but they were never buried when I purchased the land. I have 2 questions? Is it legal for the cemetery committee to take public property and dispose of it on private farm land? Secondly do I own these grave covers as they were on the land prior to me buying it?
