Can I make the neighbours remove their discharge pipes from my own discharge pipes?

I have just found out that my next door neighbours have the discharge pipes of their kitchen into my own discharge pipes which end up in the manhole in my garden. The two houses were made out of one big house and sold separated. Both are freehold houses. I suppose that whoever built the houses did not bother to have separate discharge pipes and I am the one who is suffering the consequences.

I have now a severe blockage in my pipes and the manhole is flowing into my garden, which is now a pool of rotten water and is staring filling other nearby gardens. There can be seen remains of food which cannot be from my kitchen because I do not use that kind of food. There is also lots of washing power from the washing machine and I only use washing liquid!!

The neighbours are unwilling to share the expense of unblocking the pipes and have left the problem totally to me.

My questions is, please: is it right that those pipes discharge into mine (with the threat that I may have to deal with pipe blockages again and again), or do I have any legal right to make the neighbours remove their discharge pipes from mine? My common sense tells me that the situation as it is cannot be right but need to know what the Law says. Thank you.
