I am an Italian citizen married to an American who now lives in Washington State. We got married in Italy. Without warning, he transmiited me an STD which caused me severe neurological problems for seven years.He abandoned me in June 2009 without telling me anything. He left me no money to pay for bills, or medical expenses. He cut off all communication and gave me no address or phone number. I just found out he lives in Washington. He recently told me via e-mail he has no funds to file for divorce, and neither do I to file here in Italy. I am low income, while he's a Navy retiree and receives $2,800 a month.Recently, he's been hired in Washintong State (I found out through Facebook). We have lived together for seven years and have been married for almost four. What would my rights eventually be? I cannot travel to the States because I am partly disabled due to the disease he has transmitted me. If he files for divorce in Wa, can I be legally represented for free considering he doesn't send me any money and I am low income? Would I be entitled to financial support?
