Can i sue my employer without a signed contract?

hi,i quit my job at the end of the month and my employer has refused to pay me for the month due to my absence from work for a day because i was ill.I did not sign any contracts before i started the job. Is it possible for me to sue my employer to court and what are my chances of winning such a case?
