My husband had his ulnar nerve severed by a roof strap in the coal mines. He has lost the feeling and function of his ring and pinky finger in his left dominant hand and they dont know if it will return. Also, all of his muscle tone in that hand is gone. He says that the roof straps could be cut different so that there are no pointy sharp edges. Also, days after that happened to him another coal miner cut his neck on it but fortunately was ok just some stitches.
