Is this a human rights violation?

My wife received a phone call the other day from our nephew who is in high school here in Creston. He was very upset and told her that the RCMP had come into the school to give their seminar with the party program. He said that they used our son as the example. (we lost our son in a car accident back in 2001.) What happened was, our daughter's boyfriend at the time, on his 19th birthday decided to take her car late that night, which he was forbidden to drive because he had no drivers license. He of course was drunk and decided to take our son and some of his friends on a booze run with him. ( our son was having some friends stay over that night. ) So long story short, He was coming back to our place at a very high rate of speed on icy roads and lost control and crashed killing our son.
So now the RCMP is using this as their example except that they are telling these kids that our son stole a car and ended up in an accident and dying. They don't mention anyone else's name, they just refer to them as his buddies. No mention of the guy who actually stole the car and no attempt was even made to charge him. But they can just go around telling people that our son stole a car? Then he goes on to say that my wife, was so upset that he almost had to punch her and that I was so distraught that all I could do was stand there holing a flashlight. These are just complete fabrications! The cop on the scene didn't know what to do, he just stood there holing a flashlight and I dealt with my wife and made her go sit in the car until the ambulance got there. I was in and out of the car trying to comfort our son and then assisted the paramedics and actually suffered injuries for over a year after from ripping the door off the car and climbing in to assist in getting him out.
After this call from our nephew we started phoning around to check and sure enough, they have been telling this story for quite a few years. This has been a very disturbing experience for my wife and myself. As if we haven't gone through enough loosing our son, now we have to deal with this, on top of the whole accident scene going through our heads over and over all over again. Is there anything we can do about this?
