Why mgmt accepted rent for july & august 2008, but not Sept 2008 rent?

my mgmt accepted my rent payment for july and august 2008, but my rent payment for june came back insuffcient, I also sent out my sept rent payment and mgmt returned it back to me because of the june's rent issue. Is it fair for mgmt not to accept my sept rent? And why did they accept my July and August Rent?
