What are our legal rights as tenants?

Posted in Landlord/Tenant about 1 year ago, 0 replies

Our landlord has gone into liquidation. We have a lease to buy agreement but found out they never owned the home and the home owner wants to repossess. The company that took over from our landlord says we don't have to pay rent for the 60 days notice that the owner wants. We have not signed the release agreement yet so the 60 days in not yet in affect. They say they are in control of the lease and will waive July's rent but we have never signed anything with them. They are offering us $1000 and to move the home to their community for free. Was it legal for the landlord to engage in a lease to buy if they never owned to home to begin with. We feel we are not being told of our rights as tenants. We made home payments every month and that is stated in our monthly statements. We are very confused and concerned. If anyone can help we would be very grateful. Thank you.
