I live in Texas ... my wife's son is 25 yrs old. He has lived with us since January of this year (2009). He takes medication to control seizures. He has not been taking them, which eventually results in him having a seizure. His seizures cause him to lock up, incapable of functioning. He had been telling everyone he's taking his meds; had a seizure at work last week, so he was lying. When taken to the ER, he is given a dose of meds, held until he is lucid, told not to drive until he is seizure-free for 6 months & released. He is brought home, cleans himself up, drives back to work or wherever (against the ER doctors orders). We confronted him about driving when he was told not to. His response was, "why, you think the doctor calls the police to notify them about me." He laughs and leaves. We do not know how to stop him. It should be mentioned that the truck is in HIS name, as is the insurance. My question, are we liable in any way if he has a seizure while driving & causes property damage or kills someone else?
